*BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF THE WRITER*
Colonel Govind Yeshwantrao Sowany (Retd) was born at Kolhapur, Maharashtra in an educated affluent family in the year 1939. His father was a lawyer, a distinguished personality at the times of British Raj. Mr. G.Y. Sowany after completing his education joined the Indian Army and served the country with his best possible services in almost all the wars, the country faced after its independence.
In the year 1983, he prematurely sought the retirement and now settled in Pune with his highly qualified son and daughter-in-law with their kids.
While serving the Indian army, he studied the history of the Prophet Mohammed and was fascinated by the achievements of wars during and soon after the Prophet. The victories were not on battlefields only but on spiritual fields by those who were having no past heritage of civilization. Instead, they were from a desert peninsula with an uncivilized tribal past, but they established the milestones for many civilized and disciplined nations. Colonel Govind Sowany researched extensively on the first 100 years of the subject. In the result he not only acquired vast knowledge of the then military spirit but also the true glimpses of Islam and its original spirit. Recently he wrote a series of articles titled "GLIMPSES FROM EARLY ISLAM". Not necessarily confirming all of his views, with lot of thanks we are highlighting few out of these articles here.
