A
REJOINDER
To Mr Khushwant Singh
By M. Hanif
Was
it possible for Muhammad to have known these facts of his own
without The Creator having revealed to him while it is only
now that science has made aware these realities?
2.
Chapter
23 Verse 12
This contains a graphic description of the development of the
embryo. In 1984 Dr. Keith Moore, a Canadian embryologist conceded
that it was impossible for Muhammad to have known this fact
while no man was aware even 50 years ago. He was convinced about
the truth and integrity of the message of the Qur’an and
accordingly made a conscious choice of Islam, or submission
to the Creator, his way of life.
Dr.
Moore was a former President of the Canadian Association of
Anatomists, and of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists.
He was honored by the Canadian Association of Anatomists with
the prestigious J.C.B. Grant Award and in 1994 he received the
Honored Member Award of the American Association of Clinical
Anatomists "for outstanding contributions to the field
of clinical anatomy."
This
is what he said, “I have worked with the Embryology Committee
of King Abdulazîz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,
helping them to interpret the many statements in the Qur’an
and Sunnah referring to human reproduction and prenatal development.
At first I was astonished by the accuracy of the statements
that were recorded in the 7th century AD, before the science
of embryology was established. Although I was aware of the glorious
history of Muslim scientists in the 10th century AD, and some
of their contributions to Medicine, I knew nothing about the
religious facts and beliefs contained in the Qur’an and
the Sunnah”
The
essence of the Message of the Qur’an is the certainty
and the worship of ONE GOD Almighty, being conscious of accountability
and doing of righteous deeds. “Those who have attained
to faith, as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and
the Christians and the Sabians – all who believe in God
and the Day of Judgment (are conscious of accountability) and
do righteous deeds – shall have their reward with their
Sustainer; and no fear need they have and neither shall they
grieve”, Al-Qur’an Chapter
2 Verse 62. Apart from the credibility
aspect, the other fundamental difference from all other sacred
scriptures is, The Qur’an it stresses on reason as a valid
way to faith and its insistence on the inseparability of the
spiritual and the physical spheres of human existence; the inseparability
of man’s daily actions and behavior from his spiritual
life and destiny.
Singh Sahab, Islam or Submission is the
law of nature. All creation except man is programmed to submit.
Man by virtue of his life being a test has a choice:
(1)
Submit or conform to the laws of creation and reap the benefits
in this world.
(2) Submit to the laws of conduct and be the recipient of the
Creator’s Grace in the hereafter.
(3) Lethargy or apathy towards the first choice results in poverty
and misery.
(4) Refusal to the second is tantamount to rebellion and ensures
perpetual doom in the hereafter.
The
first clear choice contains no room for any divine intervention
as a substitute for hard work - mental or physical. Only effort
has a reward.
