It is very clear that these verses are related to a mosque built at Madinah, (now in Saudi Arabia) in Prophet’s time to harm his mission. How perversely it is co-related with 9/11 incident!

I take this opportunity to invite all to see for yourself the contents of the Qur’an and ponder whether it is truly a book of guidance and the claim it makes regarding the Prophet to be ‘mercy for all the worlds’ in chapter 21 verse 107 is true or otherwise.

The Qur’an literally means “Reading” or the “Continuous Reading”. Its title makes it obvious it is addressed to human intellect and exhorts the continuous use of intellect. In the words of Thomas Cleary, the Qur’an ‘invites intelligent faith growing from observation, reflection and contemplation.’ (The “Essential Koran” by, Harper Coffins, New York, 1994)

The first few verses of Chapter 2 of the Qur’an interpreted below, categorically state the purpose of the scripture and appeal to the intellect and consciousness of man.

Chapter 2 Verse 2-5:
“This Divine Writ, let there be no doubt about it, is guidance for all who are conscious of their future, and who are convinced of Al-Ghayb (all that reality which is not observable and whose nature and methodology is beyond the reach of human perception, but surely is understandable through the application of reason, such as existence and might of God Almighty, life after death, accountability). And they are constant in prayer, and share (with others) what We provide for them as sustenance. And who believe in what has been bestowed on thee, as well as that which was bestowed before thy time (the scriptures revealed to Moses, Jesus and others); for it is they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come. It is they who follow the guidance from their Sustainer and it is they who shall attain to a happy state!”

The above verses make it amply clear that the Message in its fundamentals is no different from what the previous Prophets carried i.e. the worship of the One and Only God, Accountability and Morality. Verse 62 of the same chapter 2 expresses the perfect foundation of religion. It surpasses all ideologies and philosophies in its simplicity.

Chapter 2 Verse 62:
“Verily, those who have attained to faith (in this divine writ), as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and the Christians, and the Sabeans, all who believe in One-ness at God Almighty, and the Last Day (the day of reckoning) and do righteous deeds, shall have their reward with their Sustainer, and no fear need they have and neither shall they grieve.”

I would also like to quote a verse, which invariably forms the conclusion of the Friday sermon in all the mosques of the world.

Chapter 16 Verse 90:
“Behold, God enjoins justice (impartiality, to be unbiased), and the doing of good (morality), and generosity towards fellow men (kindness, best behavior). Almighty God forbids all that is shameful and all that runs counter to reason, as well as envy; He exhorts you repeatedly so that you might bear all this in mind”.

It is inconceivable that those who perpetrate barbaric acts of violence, killing of innocent men, women and children, and causing insufferable agony to fellow humans could be adherents of the above Message.
