THANKS
TO A NATION AND ITS CITIZENS |
- Faith-based
nationality is also a new phenomenon which has made
inroads into the Muslim world during the last few
centuries. The Qur'an gives no approval to it. Modern
day interpreters of the Qur'an have misused words
like Ummah, Millah and Qaum. Word
Ummah connotes the whole humanity according
to chapter 21
verse 92
after describing the names of many Prophets and Virgin
Mary: "Verily, this Ummah
of yours is one single Ummah, and I am your Lord,
so worship ME". Further one can refer
this in 2/213.
- Similarly
the word Millah is used for monotheistic
religion of Prophet Abraham. It is said in chapter
22 verse 78:
"….. And you are Millah of your forefather
Abraham; He named you Muslims previously and right
now ...”
- The
word Qaum is used for a group of people,
tribe, race, kins-folk and nation. Religion has nothing
to do with it. It can be checked in any dictionary.
That's why all the prophets annunciated to their people,
tribe or nation. Ironically, their call was rejected
by their own people, tribe or nation. While Prophet
Muhammad calls to the humanity at large, not to any
particular nation or group. Please refer
7/158
in which it is said: "Say
O Muhammad, O mankind, indeed I am a messenger of
The God to you all, from Him, to Whom belongs the
dominion of the heavens and the earth and...”

-
The
Jews and Muslims of today preach faith-based nationalism,
though it has no sanction if we go by the Qur'an.
How these two can function in a secular set-up, they
themselves need to answer. In the US, secular education
with all kinds of appreciable modern trends, a point
is missing badly. It is about the ultimate destination
of we people, called humanity. This should also be
incorporated in the curricula in the light of the
authentic and historically proven revelations available
in the world.
- And
last, but certainly not the least, I would like to
add that we, the human, are accountable and responsible
habitants of this earth. I am talking to a nation
like the US and her citizens who have been striving
to explore all kinds of knowledge. It is right time
now for them to explore the fundamental knowledge
about our last voyage and final destination. It is
sure that we were not here earlier, nor will we be
here forever. We will surely leave this world and
land somewhere else. What will happen with us when
we reach our final abode? These are the questions
which deserve serious thoughts. I strongly feel it
is our responsibility to seek guidance for ourselves
and educate our coming generations.
